Wave Blast.....

    I shoot most of my dramatic pictures here. When there are waves here they do all kinds of crazy things. I can't wait for the next set of big waves to roll in because when they do , this is where Ill be....

Aqua wave breaking on the rocks..

   This was one of the first pictures I took since I started shooting waves. Theres not much to it EXCEPT color. This was a small breaker off of the Mendocino headlands last year. I have posted this before but I like it so I am posting it again..

Choppy Wave in Mendocino bay...

    I wish my zoom would zoom more but this was as close as I could get to this wave from where I was. I shot this in Mendocino Bay late last summer. Mendocino bay gets the best waves when they come from the south because it is protected but when they come from the right direction the waves can get large..

Breaking wave in Mendocino bay..

  This was a sunset shot in Mendocino Bay last fall. This was my first good shot (my opinion) from the beach instead of shooting from the bluffs. I want to go back there when I get my waterproof housing and get the shot inside the wave. Well see.

Strange wave splash..

   This was one of those weird pictures that works. I didn't even realize that I had it  until I got home from a day of shooting pictures. It's kind of dark but the subject is neat. I know right where I shot it so someday when the waves are right I might try to get this shot again. I'm not holding my breath though

Smoke on the water......

    I can't remember if I have posted this wave before but it has a certain darkness to it and has the misty Moorish appeal to it. I call the picture"Smoke on the water" and took this picture off of the Pudding Creek headland last year. I may have posted this before but I am running out of pictures to post. The ocean swell today is less than 3 feet which sucks because the ocean is FLAT......

Killer double wave..

I found this wave on some Russian photo website. the info on the photo is on the bottom right. I have no clue who took this but it is about the coolest wave photo I have EVER seen. Just thought I would share..

Clamshell..

    I shot this off of the Spring Ranch Headlands last year, in November or December. I call this "Clamshell" for obvious reasons. There were no waves this day so I was fortunate it was a nice day. This was from the biggest wave of the day...I like this one. I say that for most of my pictures but that's why I keep them.

Closing out . Nice wave..

 
    This was the 3rd shot of one wave, 2 of which I have already published. This is the final shot when the wave is closing out. I shot this in Mendocino bay and shot it from the beach. Most of my shots are from the cliffs but as time goes on I will be shooting more on the beach and even in the waves as my budget for equipment grows.

Nice curl in Mendocino Bay..

     This was a very cool small wave in Mendocino Bay last fall. I like it because it has a really cool shape. I wish I had shot this in RAW instead of a low res JPEG but, maybe next time. It was kind of a nasty day and was very overcast. Mendocino Bay gets the best waves when they are coming from the SW.

Body boarder in Mendocino bay..

    A body boarder in Mendocino Bay. I shot some great waves this dayHe ended up getting hammered but when he wasn't getting hammered , he was a good body boarder. I shot this just before sunset last September..

Brown Pelicans on the wave...again

   This is a wave shot that was taken last November off of the Pudding creek headland. This area doesn't get many defined waves USUALLY, but when they are coming in they can get quite large. These were medium but had nice shape. I think this is an average photo but again, I like it..

Clear green wave....very Emerald..

    This is the header on my Facebook page and has the best color of any picture I have taken. Remember the cheap green suckers the doctor used to give you when your appointment was over ? This is exactly what it looked like. Aside from that it's small but  has a lot of character..I like it

Pipeline in Mendocino..

    This was a shot that I took in Mendocino bay and was shot in continuous mode, meaning I can hold down the button on the camera and it will keep shooting pictures continuously.

 I do this when I see a wave coming that I feel has potential. I also do this because it's hard to get a perfect shot of a wave with one pic.

When I get back to my office and open the pictures hopefully one of the shots in the set is a great one, sometimes more than one. Either way I got about 4 good shots of this wave , this being one..

Emerald wave....

    I love this picture !!!!  It has a cool clear Emerald color that makes the wave look great. It's just a little squirt of a wave but I like it anyway. I shot this last October off of the Mendocino headlands. I can't wait for the waves to come back. I keep checking the charts...

Triple Wave....

   
This was a wave rolling into Mendocino Bay last fall. I wish this had been shot in RAW or hi res, but it's not. I do like it though, it has a lot of depth to is as well as a great angle..

Sunset waves..

   This was a shot I took at sunset at Big River Beach in Mendocino. I shoot most of my shots up on the cliffs and usually not a water level. I got 10 or 15 great shots here. From now on I wan't to get more water level shots. At this point I don't have the money but I am saving up for pro waterproof camera housing that the pro surf photographers use. When I do the pictures should improve..

Incoming wave....

    This was a cool shot that is one of about 4 shots I took of a wave north of Fort Bragg. I call it "Range" because it reminds me of a mountain range. Water is so dense and heavy that whenever it rears upward there is a significant amount of force behind it. The big waves you can feel them and hear a low rumble as well as see them. This wave wasn't the case but if they were close.

Cool wave pouring over the top...

   I love it when a wave is breaking and it looks like a satin ribbon like this pic. This was shot last fall at the Spring Ranch, south of Mendocino. It's really cool when a huge wave does the same but I have yet to get a big one rolling over like this...

Wave like mercury..

   This is a cool , really small wave ( Ripple mainly ) that I shot in Mendocino Bay. The sun was very bright and was reflecting hard on the water. This is the way is came out. I thought it wouldn't come out at all but in my opinion, it did. Looks like mercury to me..

White Fang...Cool wave..

   A cool wave off of the Spring Ranch headlands last June. This has a cool shape
and great color. When the really big ones come in this is still the kind of wave I'm looking for. Hopefully well start getting some waves. We haven't had anything in Months. Someday Ill be able to travel to the places that have the big ones.....What a blast.

Crashing wave with great color - Dramatic wave

   
    I have posted this picture before but had forgotten about it. I was looking through my pictures last night and came across this. When I first took this and saw it I didn't like it but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. I didn't like it because there is so much white water but now I think it is dramatic, especially with the Aqua blue showing through. Powerful wave at MacKerricher State Park..

    This was a shot I took at the MacKerricher headlands last summer. The wave was actually way out there and I had to do some major zoom and crop in Photoshop to get it to this point. It was a big and powerful set of waves in which there were a lot. The waves were kicking hard..
