Wavy day in Mendo....

    The wave was much bigger than it looks here but this does have some cool shape and I really like the colors......Shot the wave off of Spring Ranch  just South of Mendocino.......I use a Nikon D3100 in case anyone's curious.....

   I was shooting some pictures this afternoon just south of Fort Bragg. These arent my best pictures but I like the colors and the contrast. The water was turbulent and there were some big waves...

Evening waves on a cloudy day........

    I have posted this before but the ocean has been fairly flat here so no new pics to post , HOWEVER looks like Sunday there will be some pretty large waves so If I get some new pics Ill post em here........

Groovy wave shot...

    This is kind of a funky pic of a wave. I like it because of the striation on the wave. I have shot several like this but this wave is bigger......Shot on the coast here in Mendocino country, CA...

Chiliwak...The crawling wave...

  I like it when a wave looks like it's crawling. It didn't look that way when I shot it but at this exact point in the progress of the wave it did...Love it...I name all of them and I called this one Chiliwak...I have no idea what the name means but it popped into my head and I named it...Just in case you're curious..

Loving the Sunset waves...

     This was part of my photo shoot that I posted yesterday. I don't do many sunset pics but now I will start. As soon as I post this I'm headed down south past Mendocino to get some sunrise shots. If I get some good photos, you guy's will be some of the first to know..

Greenie Weenie...Direct wave strike..

   The light was weird and the waves were hit and miss. I love the Aqua color through the wave.

 The general result in the evening which is when I shot this is the sun is behind the wave and it looks a nice Aqua green.

 In the morning when the light is on the face directly it's more blue...that's assuming there is sunshine.

Basic information that most know but just in case...now you know.

NOTE: This is the first photo that I have edited in Light room...pretty cool program..

Sunset waves in NorCal

   In case anyone is curious, I had to stop posting because we had no waves for over a year and I ran out of photo's to post. The waves are starting to roll in again and I now do have some  new photos to post. I did a photo shoot yesterday at a park north of Fort Bragg..

I should be posting again on a regular basis so keep the page bookmarked, follow the blog if you want and Ill try to start adding some great new pics. This was a PM sunset shot which came out great...

Bird on the wave..

 This was shot last summer off of the spring Ranch headlands. I am ALWAYS trying to get at least one in the picture, but more is better. I have never shot a perfect shot of a brown pelican but I like this one. It's all about timing...

Green wave with the crystal lip

   This was shot from the beach at Big river near Mendocino, Ca. They only get the bigger waves when you get a swell from the south. It sucks that we have had no waves this winter at all but hopefully this Summer that will change and I can get some more shots from here.. Even if there are no waves here , it's a great place to be..

Wave Blast.....

    I shoot most of my dramatic pictures here. When there are waves here they do all kinds of crazy things. I can't wait for the next set of big waves to roll in because when they do , this is where Ill be....

Aqua wave breaking on the rocks..

   This was one of the first pictures I took since I started shooting waves. Theres not much to it EXCEPT color. This was a small breaker off of the Mendocino headlands last year. I have posted this before but I like it so I am posting it again..

Choppy Wave in Mendocino bay...

    I wish my zoom would zoom more but this was as close as I could get to this wave from where I was. I shot this in Mendocino Bay late last summer. Mendocino bay gets the best waves when they come from the south because it is protected but when they come from the right direction the waves can get large..

Breaking wave in Mendocino bay..

  This was a sunset shot in Mendocino Bay last fall. This was my first good shot (my opinion) from the beach instead of shooting from the bluffs. I want to go back there when I get my waterproof housing and get the shot inside the wave. Well see.

Strange wave splash..

   This was one of those weird pictures that works. I didn't even realize that I had it  until I got home from a day of shooting pictures. It's kind of dark but the subject is neat. I know right where I shot it so someday when the waves are right I might try to get this shot again. I'm not holding my breath though

Smoke on the water......

    I can't remember if I have posted this wave before but it has a certain darkness to it and has the misty Moorish appeal to it. I call the picture"Smoke on the water" and took this picture off of the Pudding Creek headland last year. I may have posted this before but I am running out of pictures to post. The ocean swell today is less than 3 feet which sucks because the ocean is FLAT......

Killer double wave..

I found this wave on some Russian photo website. the info on the photo is on the bottom right. I have no clue who took this but it is about the coolest wave photo I have EVER seen. Just thought I would share..

Clamshell..

    I shot this off of the Spring Ranch Headlands last year, in November or December. I call this "Clamshell" for obvious reasons. There were no waves this day so I was fortunate it was a nice day. This was from the biggest wave of the day...I like this one. I say that for most of my pictures but that's why I keep them.

Closing out . Nice wave..

 
    This was the 3rd shot of one wave, 2 of which I have already published. This is the final shot when the wave is closing out. I shot this in Mendocino bay and shot it from the beach. Most of my shots are from the cliffs but as time goes on I will be shooting more on the beach and even in the waves as my budget for equipment grows.

Nice curl in Mendocino Bay..

     This was a very cool small wave in Mendocino Bay last fall. I like it because it has a really cool shape. I wish I had shot this in RAW instead of a low res JPEG but, maybe next time. It was kind of a nasty day and was very overcast. Mendocino Bay gets the best waves when they are coming from the SW.
