Up and over wave..

    I actually found some waves today but there wasn't enough force behind them to get the shots I was looking for. I do like this but it is similar to some I have done in the past. It was nice to be outside watching waves though. The ocean has been so flat all winter that there hasn't been much to shoot. This was shot north of Fort Bragg..

Bustin a move on a wave...

   i'm digging into the archives of some of my older surfing photos that I took last summer. This area has some great surfers and this place has some killer waves. When the waves are rolling in, they just keep on coming..

Orbit..Up and out..

  This is a very cool wave that was shot north of Fort Bragg. I like it when waves are going up and out. On the day I was shooting this there wasn't much going on but a small set came in and I was able to get this shot. I call it Orbit..

Brown Pelicans hunting on the wave..

     I shot this last fall off of the Pudding Creek headlands just North of fort Bragg. I was on the headland to the right of the trestle facing the Pacific. The waves usually aren't great here but when they are, they really are. It's a great place to shoot them with the Brown Pelicans because when there are waves here , there are usually a bunch of the Pelicans as well..

   I'm working on my website components and just designed my splash page today. It is going to take a little time but it will be worth the wait.

Wave with a canopy..

 This was shot off of the Mendocino headlands last fall. This is a simple wave but has great color and  love the breaking canopy. The ocean was fairly flat but this set came in and gave me 4 or 5 good shots..

Silver wave in NorCal...

    This is a cool stub of a wave. I think I shot this off of the MacKerricher headlands last November 2012. I really like this because of all of the silver light hitting the wave. The chances of finding good waves are about 50% but when they are good they're great..

Cool shaped wave..

   I have no clue where I shot this but if I had to make a guess which I am I would say at the Pudding creek headland off to the right side of the inlet. This is a simple wave but it has a lot of shade and great shape. Pudding creek is at the North end of Fort Bragg..

Straight line with a rooster tail..

   I think this was shot off of the MacKerricher headland last November 2012. You never know what you're going to get there in terms of waves but this one looks great. I like the blue green and the crispness of the wave..

Kazoo..

 I have posted this before but came across it today and realized how much I liked it. This was shot 15 to 20 miles north of  Fort Bragg. I call this picture "Kazoo" because it was the first thing that popped into my head yet has nothing to do with a Kazoo at all .. I love the color and the shape....

Dramatic Wave off of the Spring Ranch in Mendocino..

    Not sure where I thought this but I think it was at the Spring Ranch just south of Mendocino Village. I forgot I even had this one but when surfing through some older images I found it and really like it. Spring ranch is direct exposure to the Pacific and can get some very dramatic waves..

Flat Top wave...interesting..

   This is a really cool picture to me because  it has a perfectly flat surface on the top getting ready to break. I love this picture. This was taken last October 2012 north of Fort Bragg. I can sit in this one spot and get thousands of cool pictures.

Cool waves off of MacKerricher..

   I'm not sure where I shot this but I think it was at the Mackerricher headlands, just north of Fort Bragg. It's hard to shoot a great wave here , which I think is the left side of the observation deck, but they were rolling in on this day. I took this around November 2012.

Sweet wave set.....Kickin hard..

 
   I have posted a similar picture before but this actually is different. This is part of a 4 photo set and are all of the same wave set. I am not an expert in photography and when I shot  this I didn't know much about Hi res / Low res and shot this in low res. I can't blow them up to artwork quality for sale. If I ever figure that one out, I will make sure that I let you guys Know. I shot this last July 2012 about 15 miles north of Fort Bragg.

Multi break waves....

  This is a super cool photo shot north of Fort Bragg. This is cool because there are two waves going on, the one in the back starting to break and the other in front breaking in multiple directions. I love it when waves break in an un natural way...

Small curl with a drop..

   I can't remember where I shot this but I think it was at the Mendocino headlands last fall. This is cool because it has some curl on this end and is flat and dropping on the other end. The waves are not always great at the headlands but sometimes the waves are coming in fairly large and then there is a lot of activity. When the waves are coming in they are very unpredictable and roll in all kinds of crazy way's..

Small Note: I will have a website coming, hopefully by the end of the year in which I will have at this point 13 of my best photos available in small sizes up to 8 X 12 unframed / 11 x 14 framed and matted up to 18 x 24 unframed / 24 x 30 framed and matted in print. These are regular prints .

All will be available framed metal as well from 8 x 12 all the way up to 43 x 96.

Dark Energy...

   I shot this wave off of the Mendocino Headlands rolling into the bay. I love this picture for many reasons. One thing I like about waves is the colors, mainly the Blue green, aqua and turquoise however I like this because it is dark. I named this one "Dark Energy" which  was shot around last July, 2012

Jagged ass wave on a windy day..

   
    This was a cool wave shot north of Fort Bragg. The waves were churning and were very jagged. There was a lot of wind and it was whipping the crap out of the top of the waves and gave them a bad ass look. I took this last October 2012.

Spring Ranch Waves..

    This shot was taken at Spring Ranch last July. This is a great spot to sit and watch the waves. This is a small corner right when you get out on the headlands that is like a small beach up on the cliffs. Some of my best photo,s have been taken here. With all of that being said, this isn't my best but I still like it...

The place where I take some of my wave pics..

   This isn't a wave pic like usual but is a picture of an area that I take a lot of wave photo's. This is on the Mendocino headlands here right down the road from Fort Bragg where I live. This can be a great dive spot as well if the ocean is calm. Thought you guy's might like to see.

Brown Pelicans following the wave...

   I shot this a little north of Fort Bragg last November 2012. I always love getting wildlife in the pictures. Brown Pelicans are hart to shoot because they are nowhere to be found and then they're flying past you before you can get a good focus on them. This is one of my favorites..

Cool double wave....

   I have posted this before but I really like it so Ill post it again. The waves look big but they were bigger in person..very impressive. I shot this off of the Spring Ranch headlands last November I think..

Small long wave off the Mendocino coast..

  I shot this off of the Mendocino Headlands around Mendocino Village last summer. I like it on a wave when they roll over and it like like satin ribbon. This has some great color even though the wave is small. The water looks so different  until it starts to break..

Blue Heron watching the waves..

   Ok, so I lied. This blog is about waves and although there is some tiny wave action in the picture it is all about the bird. I was out shooting waves and there were waves out, some quite large but the Heron was on a rock facing away from the waves. Either way I love this picture Officially there is a wave so technically I didn't lie....FYI

Drop Zone - Birds flying along the wave..

   This picture came out great because of the birds in a line. I like bords in the pictures because is gives the wave perspective and depth. The color was great as well and even though the ocean was very flat this day, I was patient and a nice set of waves finally came in. I shot this last August off of the Pudding Creek headland at the north end of Fort Bragg..

Loopy Sloopy...The reaching wave...

    This isn't one of my best but I do like it when the wave reaches forward. The wave has the color I like though and again the shape. I shot this last October off of the Mendocino headlands..

Waves on a cloudy evening..

   I took this picture at the Mackerricher State park off of the main headland observation deck. The ocean was fairly flat and the clouds were coming in. There were some waves but you had to wait for them which I did on this one. I love the spray and the small curl in the wave..

Nice wave, great shape..

    This wave was shot last October about 15 miles north of Fort Bragg. The waves kept hitting that rock all day and kept doing the same thing. I like this because the spray has a very balanced look and has good color with good shadows.  Sometimes when I shoot a wave I can't see anything worthwhile until I process the picture on the computer and than  wa laaaa....A cool picture..

Like a nuclear blast....Exploding wave..

  I forgot I had this picture. It's an awesome shot HOWEVER, because the Seagull is so blurry I can't use it as gallery quality art. This to me has a lot of power, great color and is exploding upward...Damn bird....This was shot last October north of Fort Bragg

Rooster Tail and a roll over swell..

    The waves here really are dramatic because of all the volcanic rock formations right off the coast. When the swell is large and the wind is kicking, the waves roll over the slabs and the waves develop a cool rooster tail...... There is a winery very close by so theres more than one reason to be shooting photos here...
